The generic application has been initiated since 1972 by a need of societies for the transportation of oil products by pipeline as Trapil, and became rapidly essential for organizations such as the NATO, this material is certified by the LCIE and PTB.
- Without any comparison with the densimetry of metrological purpose, it is essential to follow on line the quality of oil products in dispatch or delivery and above all to detect its changes. The part situated between 2 different products is called " interface ".
Based on the analysis of the speed of sound thanks to an external probe, the measurement may be made without any constraint, everywhere, upstream or downstream from a station, without radiation, danger or maintenance.
- This technique is ideal for all refined products, from LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) to Diesels, Naphtas, petrol or fuel for jets. (J.P. Kerosene). It is suitable for crude oils and petroleums or heavy fuel oil.
The products have constantly improved themselves. After 20 years of career, the valiant M212 has been replaced by the UF 321-I and then by the Minisonic ISD which offers 2 new features :
. the numeric correction of the P (pressure) and T (temperature) influence factors via the M 1189 N,
. the detection on line of spheres and pigs (cf product/application Minisonic PSD).
We also speak of " interface-flowmeters " when the speed of sound information of a Minisonic 600 or Minisonic 2000 flowmeters is dealt from the output R/S or a second current output.

We have references all over the world with about 1000 installations :
- Trapil and its LHP, ODC divisions trust in us since 28 years with a park higher than 150 measurement points, exclusively in refined products, on pipelines of diameter between 8'' and 32''
- In France, similar uses are in place at the CIM (industrial and harbour company Le Havre), SPMR, TOTAL (Harfleur, Le Havre), SFDM (Elf - pipe Donges - Melun - Metz) ...of which some measurements on the storage parks.
- In Europe, this equipment is accepted by the NATO. We provide the equipment for the pipelines of the BP Agency (Great Britain), of the FBG (Germany) and of the military networks of Belgium and Holland.
- In Asia, our references extend from Turquey to Thailand (THAPP) to India (Oil India).

- In Africa, we have installations in Libya, Kenya, Zimbabwe.
- In South America, ECOPETROL (Colombia) and moreover PETROBRAS use our equipments for great many applications of which some in crude petroleum and in heavy oil.

Specific applications :
- An original application has been initiated in Brazil and qualified by PETROBRAS, to automate the water drainage of the crude petroleum tanks : the Minisonic ISD analyses the speed of sound, amplification, echo losses....and runs, from the petroleum arrival, the closing of an intelligent valve.
- We have some applications in chemistry or petrochemistry where the speed of sound can give information on the concentration, above all on ionized solutions, or can detect the solvents phases or bases in a process (PFIZER England).
