Principe de Mesure

Interface detection

The speed of sound propagation in the oil products is a physical characteristic in relation with their density. Its measurement permits the identification of the different products which are following one another in the pipelines.

T = speed propagation of the acoustic signal in the liquid

• this measurement is made thanks to an external probe

• the cut off the acoustic beam by spheres or pigs is also detected

• in some cases, a correction in pressure and temperature can be necessary
